Vikings have dual-threat offensive weapon visiting the team ahead of the NFL Draft

The Minnesota Vikings and their offensive coaching staff of Wes Phillips and Kevin O’Connell have the team playing at a high level. It helps that they have great skill players around a strong offensive line and stable quarterback play. In 2025, though, the team will be turning the keys over to J.J. McCarthy, so they want to make sure he has all the pieces he needs around him.

On that note, the Vikings are having another offensive weapon, SMU’s Brashard Smith, visit them before the draft.

Smith came to SMU as a wide receiver recruit but changed positions to running back shortly after arriving on campus. He has since shown that he has a dual-threat skillset as a very reliable pass catching running back out of the backfield. For the Vikings, Aaron Jones has proven to be a decent pass catcher but they lack a Grade-A option in the backfield.

Smith would be able to be drafted on day three so he could be a value for the team. Letting O’Connell and Phillips scheme with him would be a sight to behold.
