Rams had formal meeting with Texas S Andrew Mukuba

Safety isn’t viewed as a major need for the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL draft this year but they could still address the position to add more depth around Kamren Kinchens, Kamren Curl and Quentin Lake.

One potential target is Texas safety Andrew Mukuba, who’s projected to be a Day 2 pick. Mukuba told Justin Melo of The Draft Network that he had a formal meeting with the Rams at the NFL combine, so Los Angeles has at least some interest in the Longhorns prospect.

“I had about eight formal interviews at the NFL Combine,” Mukuba said. “I’ve been meeting with teams via Zoom these last few weeks as well. I have a few workouts as well. I have workouts with the Bills. I had formals with the Eagles, Texans, Bears, Lions, Rams, Falcons, and a few others.”

Mukuba is a 5-foot-11 safety with 4.45 speed and great ball skills, picking off five passes last season as a third-team All-SEC selection. After starting for three years at Clemson, he became a starter at Texas, so he’s had plenty of experience playing high-level football.

He fits the mold of a smart, instinctual safety, which the Rams love, so it would be a logical landing spot for him in Los Angeles.
