Third-year edge rusher Yaya Diaby has already made his mark in the opening days of Buccaneers training camp. Flashing off the edge with speed and power, Diaby has looked like one of the most disruptive players on the field, and momentum is quickly building for a breakout season in 2025.

Through the opening practices, Diaby has consistently won in team periods, often getting into the backfield unblocked or shedding his man in a flash. Also visible is Diaby’s improved discipline in run defense, as he’s maintained edge control and shown quicker reaction when diagnosing plays. Diaby is building off a 2024 campaign where he led the team in total pressures and continued to grow in overall production, even as his sack total dipped.

The arrival of veteran pass rusher Haason Reddick this offseason is expected to lighten the attention Diaby draws from opposing lines, unlocking more one-on-one situations for him to capitalize on.

Early signs suggest he’s ready to do just that. Diaby has shown clear growth in play recognition and technique, turning his athletic traits into consistent disruption. While it’s still early in camp, his performance so far has set the tone for what could be a breakout year. With improved talent around him and a clear understanding of his role, Diaby looks primed to emerge as one of Tampa Bay’s and the NFL’s most impactful defenders in 2025.
