Yankees Claim Bryan De La Cruz From Braves

New York Yankees star Giancarlo Stanton has been out for the entire season due to injuries in both of his elbows. The Yankees have handled themselves fine with Stanton in the lineup, as their 18-13 record effectively demonstrates.

However, the Yankees are an even better team when Stanton is in the lineup, so they naturally want him to return as soon as possible. Unfortunately, Yankees manager Aaron Boone recently told reporters, including MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch, that there is still no set time for when Stanton will return to game action.

Now, the Yankees have added to their roster following this Stanton update. The team has announced that they have claimed outfielder Bryan De La Cruz from the Atlanta Braves. In addition, the Yankees have announced that Stanton has been moved to the 60-day injured list.

De La Cruz, 28, will now provide the Yankees with more experienced outfield depth as they continue their season. The 6-foot-1 outfielder appeared in 16 games with the Braves this season, posting zero home runs, one double, one stolen base, and a .191 batting average.

In 491 career major league games over five seasons split between the Miami Marlins, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Braves, De La Cruz has 58 home runs, 208 RBIs, and a .251 batting average.
