The rift between WWE and AEW is seemingly only growing wider in the last few weeks. Forms of entertainment are always going to spark heated online discourse, but now that negativity is seeping over to the performers themselves.
Just yesterday, the Daily Star released a video with Will Ospreay, where the British star called out the WWE locker room and made numerous claims about their work rate in the ring. Today, the Wrestling Observer Rookie of the Year Je’Von Evans and WWE high flyer Ricochet have gotten into a social media war.
After Ricochet continued to be a heel on X, suggesting he’d “squash” Evans, the “Young OG” took offense to this claim. “My bad, I just got done training at the Performance Center under Shawn Michaels,” Evans wrote. “Something that you don’t have or do, BUT, I bet yo brown egg head a## would squash me if Tony (Khan) told you to.”
After Ricochet suggested he was learning under HBK when Evans was 12 and went on to be a multi-time champion, the 21-year-old didn’t hold back. “Now you’re wrestling in front of 2,000 people every week for a crackhead,” Evans wrote. “Talk about an upgrade, am I right?”

Evans has since deleted all of his tweets. Even with the bizarre choice to call Tony Khan a “crackhead,” this was a 10-7 round in favor of Evans. Ricochet’s current character is a cringey heel who says outlandish things on the internet to combat his shortcomings on the mic. Evans is a blue-chip prospect who has the potential to main event WrestleMania.
It’s always weird to see a pair of wrestlers beef in such a public fashion, but Ricochet has been asking for it. Evans likely went too far, but at some point, one of Ricochet’s barbs would rub someone the wrong way.
