Wrexham have been called “a circus” by Nathan Jones, manager of League One promotion rivals Charlton Athletic ahead of Saturday’s crunch game at the Stok Cae Ras.

The Welsh side are partly owned by Ryan Reynolds and fellow Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney, who are hoping to achieve three successive promotions at the club.

McElhenney stood with Wrexham fans and posed for photographs during their 2-1 win at Blackpool – a result that returned Wrexham to second in the table and into an automatic promotion spot.

Phil Parkinson’s side are four points in front of the fourth placed Addicks and two points ahead of second placed Wycombe Wanderers, with two games of the season remaining.

Charlton’s 4-0 win at Wycombe means they are still in contention for second spot and would move within a point of Wrexham with a win in north Wales.

“All we do is take a game as it comes,” Welshman Jones told Sky Sports.

“We are not looking at the play-offs, we are not looking at Burton at home on the final game.

“We’ll finish, we’ll debrief, we’ll breathe a little bit and then we’ll move forward with Wrexham.

“It’s a bumper game, we have to go to the circus and see what we can get.”

Wrexham – who can confirm promotion with wins against Charlton and away at Lincoln City on the final day – have yet to respond to Jones’ “circus” label.
