The Dallas Wings came up just short of a remarkable comeback on Friday night against the Indiana Fever, falling 94–86 despite cutting a 20-point deficit down to two late in the second half.

Wings rookie Paige Bueckers led the charge for Dallas, erupting for 27 points and six assists while committing zero turnovers across a team-high 36 minutes.

Following the game—held at the American Airlines Center, home of the Mavericks—Bueckers shared a viral moment with NBA superstar Kyrie Irving, who was sitting courtside with his daughter.

Bueckers has long made it clear that Irving is her favorite player. During her rookie press conference in April, she said, “He’s been my favorite player forever now. I’m super excited to be in the same city as him. Hope I can learn a lot from him.”

The WNBA’s official account reacted to the moment by posting, “That Dallas love. Paige and Kyrie link up after the Fever-Wings game!”

Fans reacted to the interaction:

“I love to see the support,” a fan said.

“Star Dallas guards,” the NBA posted.

Someone else added, “Dream come true for her! The loss sucks, but I’m glad she gets to be a little happy!”

One more fan commented, “i’m so happy for her man.”

Kyrie Irving has enjoyed a Hall of Fame-caliber career and recently signed a long-term extension with the Mavericks, securing his future in Dallas. Meanwhile, Paige Bueckers’ WNBA journey is just getting started after being selected No. 1 overall by the Wings in April—a milestone Irving also experienced when the Cleveland Cavaliers drafted him first overall in 2011.

Heading into Friday night’s game, the former UConn star was averaging 17.7 points, 5.8 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. Despite their 4–13 record, the Wings have remained competitive in many of their matchups this season.
