Wisconsin transfer offensive lineman Derek Jensen has signed with Iowa State, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Jensen entered the portal last week after one season with the Badgers. He originally joined the program as a three-star recruit in the class of 2024, ranked as the No. 32 interior offensive lineman and the No. 4 player from the state of Wisconsin. Of note, Jensen was the program’s highest in-state signee in the cycle, with the state’s No. 1 (OT Garrett Sexton) and No. 3 (RB Corey Smith) recruits choosing Penn State and No. 2 (iOL Nathan Roy) signing with rival Minnesota.
The Hartland, Wisconsin, native redshirted as a true freshman in 2024. He now transfers to an Iowa State program that went 11-3 in 2024, capped off by a Pop-Tarts Bowl win over Miami. Former Wisconsin transfer Dylan Barrett was a mainstay along the team’s offensive line through much of the season. The Cyclones hope that Jensen, who joins the program with four years of eligibility remaining, emerges to have a similar impact.

The lineman is one of four Badgers to enter the transfer portal during the spring window, following tight end Tanner Koziol, wide receiver Mark Hamper and wide receiver Quincy Burroughs. Koziol and Jensen have already found landing spots, with Hamper and Burroughs still uncommitted.
Wisconsin is looking to bolster its offensive line depth with the recent injury to starting left tackle Kevin Heywood. Jensen was part of a crowded depth group along the line’s interior, a position group that is unlikely to be a major transfer focus, given the current vacancy at left tackle.
