Former Wisconsin cornerback Jay Harper announced his transfer commitment to Louisiana-Monroe on Friday.
Harper entered the portal on April 23, just two days before the spring window closed. He originally joined the Badgers as a three-star recruit in the class of 2024, ranked as the No. 715 overall player in the cycle, the No. 61 cornerback and the No. 35 recruit from Alabama. He did not see any game action during his lone season with the program.
Harper is one of six Badgers to depart during the spring transfer window. Tight end Tanner Koziol left for Houston, wide receiver Mark Hamper for Cal, offensive lineman Derek Jensen for Iowa State, long snapper Eli Stein for Cincinnati and wide receiver Quincy Burroughs for a yet-to-be-announced destination. Koziol, Hamper and Stein had just joined the program during the winter transfer window, while Jensen and Harper did so last summer with its class of 2024.
The redshirt freshman cornerback, who has four years of eligibility remaining, now joins a ULM program that went 5-7 (3-5 Sun Belt) in 2024. It is still looking for its first winning season since 2012.

Wisconsin is loaded at cornerback entering 2025. Ricardo Hallman and Nyzier Fourqurean are each back to start, with transfers D’Yoni Hill and Geimere Latimer projected as the primary backups.
The program did well to address several roster needs during the spring transfer window. Despite Harper’s departure, cornerback was not one of those positions. The Badgers added a starting long-snapper, a potential starting left tackle, a starting tight end and a depth wide receiver. Those moves followed Hamper and Burroughs’ departures, plus the spring practice injury to starting LT Kevin Heywood.
Harper will now be one of numerous former Wisconsin cornerbacks playing elsewhere in 2025, many of whom transferred out during the winter window. Former top recruits Amare Snowden and Xavier Lucas headline that list.
