Vanderbilt baseball will face Louisville in the winners bracket game of the Nashville Regional after defeating Wright State, 4-3.
The Commodores (43-16) and the Cardinals (36-21) will face off for a spot in the regional final.
Vanderbilt faced Louisville earlier this season and lost, 5-4, in Louisville. The two teams play a rivalry game every year called the “Battle of the Barrel.” They have also faced off in multiple postseason games before, including two regionals, a super regional and three College World Series matchups. The Commodores are 6-4 in 10 postseason matchups.
Vanderbilt defeated Wright State, 4-3, in the regional opener while Louisville defeated East Tennessee State, 8-3.
The Commodores are the No. 1 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA tournament. Louisville, out of the ACC, is a No. 2 seed. Southern Conference champion East Tennessee State is the No. 3 seed, while Horizon League champion Wright State is the No. 4 seed.
The Raiders and Buccaneers will each face elimination in the early game May 31 (3 p.m. CT) while the Commodores and Cardinals will play the nightcap (8 p.m. CT, ESPN+).
