What Trey Hendrickson said after major Bengals contract rework

Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson put ink to his reworked contract with the team on Monday.

After a standoff that stretched for months and included Hendrickson rejecting one offer that came close to the $100 million range, the All-Pro signed a reworked deal that put his 2025 salary near the $30 million mark.

Hendrickson had plenty to say while signing the deal.

“It gives a lot of clarity to the 2025 defense,” Hendrickson said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “It gives us a couple of more good practices, and with a great offseason in the books, both personally and as a team, I feel like now we can go collectively play for the 2025 Bengals. and what’s best for the team is the best players playing in their relative positions.”

Hendrickson also noted that one of his goals next season is to uplift the pass-rushers around him so that they can hopefully get to this level, too:

“I think the difference between me and the next guy last year was something I didn’t do a good enough job of bringing the rest of the defense with me. I’m looking forward to getting more guys around me with better production and helping those guys achieve their goals for their families that I’ve been able to achieve for mine. That’s what I’m most excited about. Bringing knowledge, being a better teammate and enjoying the process of the 2025 season.”

Hendrickson remains on track to enter free agency after the season in the aftermath of his reworked deal.

But for now, the focus turns to the 2025 season, where a hold-in ending agreement means he shouldn’t have any problems being on the field for Week 1.
