What pick do Detroit Lions have in first round of 2025 NFL Draft?

The Detroit Lions will be on the clock very soon.

After a 2024 season that ended with a first-round playoff exit, the Lions look to improve their roster with another solid draft day.

The 2025 NFL Draft starts tonight at 8 p.m., taking place in Green Bay, Wisconsin after a successful draft experience in Detroit in 2024.

Lions GM Brad Holmes has already crafted a reputation as a strong drafter, having taken stars like Aidan Hutchinson, Penei Sewell and Amon-Ra St. Brown in his five years at the helm.

But unless Detroit trades up, Holmes will have to wait a while before he can do that. The Lions have the 28th overall pick in the 2025 draft, the lowest starting position Holmes has drafted from so far.

Many draft experts believe the Lions will use their first-round pick to draft an edge rusher, though some suggest drafting a defensive back would also be a wise idea.

Here’s the important info about where the Lions will pick in the first night of the NFL draft:

Detroit Lions NFL draft predictions

Our NFL experts Rainer Sabin and Dave Birkett discussed what the Lions might do with their first-round pick, and they each had differing opinions.

Birkett thinks the Lions could look into trading for a higher pick if the right pass rusher becomes available, though he also pointed out how Holmes might not want to part with future draft picks this time around.

Both Birkett and Sabin believe the Lions will target a pass rusher, though who they might prefer is still up in the air.
