The Western Brown Broncos made their first-ever Ohio High School Athletic Association state tournament appearance Wednesday. In a state semifinal matchup against Dover, the Broncos lost 7-0.
The first five innings of the game were a classic pitchers duel, with just four hits and zero runs between the two teams. Dover broke it open with a six-run top of the sixth that included three singles, a double, an error and a three-run home run. Dover added another run in the top of the seventh with an RBI single following an error, a sacrifice bunt and a stolen base.
Dover will square off against the winner of the other state semifinal, being played between Holland Springfield and Youngstown Boardman, Thursday, June 12 at 12:30 p.m. in the Division III state final.
