WATCH: Full Kyle McCord 'Quarterback Class' episode with Jon Gruden

It’s not often that the transfer portal offers everyone a win-win situation, but that’s exactly what occurred with the domino effect when Kyle McCord transferred from Ohio State to Syracuse, allowing Will Howard to leave Kansas State for the sunny shores of the banks of the Olentangy.

McCord went on to have a fantastic senior season with the ‘Cuse, and Howard used his moxie, leadership, and talent to lead the Buckeyes to the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff national championship.

And while McCord got criticized heavily by Buckeye Nation, his time at Ohio State was a very good one statistically, throwing for 3,170 yards on 229-of-348 completions (65.8%), tossing 24 touchdowns to six interceptions. There was jut the one (although critical) loss to Michigan. At Syracuse, McCord threw the ball much more, completing 391-of-592 (66.0%) for 4,779 yards with 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

McCord sat down with Jon Gruden this past week in his popular “Quarterback Class” segment to talk about his time at Ohio State and Syracuse, the upcoming draft, and much more. I never understood the loathing attitude by some OSU fans when it comes to McCord, and wish him nothing but the very best. If you missed any of the segment with Gruden, you can watch the entire thing here thanks to Gruden’s YouTube channel. It is entertaining.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Howard or McCord gets picked first in the draft this weekend. Most have McCord going off the board first, but we’ll see how things unfold in the very unpredictable annual spectacle that is the NFL draft.
