Washington Commanders select Virginia Tech WR Jaylin Lane with No. 128 overall pick

The Washington Commanders continue to do things to make life easier for quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders selected Virginia Tech wide receiver Jaylin Lane with the No. 128 pick overall in the 2025 NFL draft.

The 5-foot-10, 191-pound Lane began his career at Middle Tennessee State, where he was an All-Conference USA pick at wide receiver and punt returner. He transferred to Virginia Tech ahead of the 2023 season, earning All-ACC honors as a punt returner in 2024.

Lane produced as a receiver at both schools despite quarterback issues, finishing his college career with 203 receptions for 2,532 yards and 18 touchdowns. Lane averaged 12.5 yards per reception in his career and also rushed for three touchdowns.

Lane was a prolific returner, averaging 11 yards per punt return, including returning two for touchdowns. He will immediately become Washington’s top option at returner. Lane joins a wide receiver corps that consists of Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel, Noah Brown, K.J. Osborn and Luke McCaffrey.
