Warriors work out three draft prospects headlined by Auburn star

While the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder decide the NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors have been busy preparing for the NBA Draft. With the draft quickly approaching, the Warriors have had a flurry of different prospects travel to San Francisco for pre-draft workouts.

On Thursday, the Warriors had another trio of prospects at Chase Center for a workout, headlined by one of the top players in college basketball, Auburn’s Johni Broome.

Broome, a finalist for the Naismith Award for the nation’s top player, earned numerous accolades in his final season with the Tigers. The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 18.6 points on 51% shooting from the field to go along with 10.8 boards, 2.9 assists and 2.1 blocks in 30.2 minutes per game for Bruce Pearl’s squad.

Along with being named a consensus first-team All-American, Broome earned the SEC Player of the Year award along with a spot on the SEC All-Defensive team.

Joining Broome in San Francisco is Nevada’s Kobe Sanders and Marquette’s Kam Jones.

Sanders played four seasons at Cal Poly before transferring to Nevada for his final season of college basketball. At Nevada, Sanders earned third-team All Mountain West honors, averaging 15.8 points on 46% shooting from the field and 34.2% from beyond the arc to go along with 4.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 33 games for the Wolfpack.

After four seasons at Marquette, Jones notched a spot on the All-American second-team, averaging 19.2 points on 48.3% shooting from the field and 31.1% from deep to go along with 5.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.

The NBA draft is set to start on June 25 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Steve Kerr, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the Warriors will be on the clock in the second round at No. 41.
