That’s especially true when it comes to the Arizona sports scene, which keeps on humming even for those teams that are in the middle of a season.

  • The Arizona Diamondbacks are enduring a season of ups and mostly downs, particularly when it comes to the rash of injuries among key players. That has contributed to lackluster performances as they try to stay in the National League wild-card chase. There’s plenty of speculation on what the team will do prior to the July 31 trade deadline.
  • The Phoenix Suns finally traded superstar Kevin Durant in a deal with the Houston Rockets, then signaled an intent to go big with their picks in the NBA draft. Now begins the free agency period, which is sure to bring more news.
  • The Phoenix Mercury have been one of the top teams in the WNBA, with players such as Kahleah Copper, Alyssa Thomas and Satou Sabally leading the way. The team had won six in a row before losing Sunday, June 29.
