VOTE: Boone County High School Athlete of the Week for May 26-31

Rock Bridge’s Harper Hairston is the reigning Boone County High School Athlete of the Week. Now, its time to vote for the top athlete for May 26-31. Voting will remain open until Thursday, June 5 at 11:59 p.m. 

Here’s this week’s nominees: Angelina Cottone, Athena Peterson, Brennan Scott, Carter Atkinson, Drevyn Seamon, Elyse Wilmes, John Moss, Kaden Schremmer, Lucas Wietholder, Makaylin Viet, Matthew States, Riley Rowling, Sarah Kesterson, Xavier Wandrey, Vernell Holt.

Rock Bridge’s 4×200 team featuring AtkinsonRowlingSeamon, and Scott placed first at the MSHAA Class 5 Track and Field Championships at 1:25.13, breaking the Missouri high school record. Scott also placed second on the Bruins 4×400 team at 3:17.68. Seamon placed third in the 100- and 200-meter dashes at 10.67 and 21.19. 

Holt repeated as a state champion for Battle boys track and field. He placed first in long jump at the MSHAA Class 5 Track and Field Championships with a mark of 7.38 meters.

Moss placed first in the 200-meter dash for Hickman boys track and field at the MSHAA Class 5 Track and Field Championships. His time of 21.06 broke the Class 5 record. Moss also placed second in the 400-meter dash at 47.09.

Peterson placed first in triple jump for Hickman girls track and field at the MSHAA Class 5 Track and Field Championships with a mark of 12.31 meters. She also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.48 and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.39.

Schremmer sent Tolton baseball to the Class 4 Final Four with a game-winning RBI single in a 5-4 win over MICDS. Wietholder went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI’s in the winning effort. In the Trailblazers 3-1 sectional victory over Moberly, Stateswent 2-for-3 with two RBI’s.

Wandrey placed first in high jump for Battle boys track and field at the MSHAA Class 5 Track and Field Championships with a mark of 2.01 meters, becoming a state champion.

Tolton's 4x800 team

Wilmes placed first in the 800 and 1600-meter run for Tolton girls track and field at the MSHAA Class 4 State Championships with times of 2:07.52 and 4:53.13. Wilmes teamed up with Cottone, Kesterson, and Viet in the 4×800, where the group placed first at 9:28.40.
