Virginia safety to visit with Atlanta Falcons ahead of 2025 NFL draft

The 2025 NFL draft is a little over a week away and the Atlanta Falcons are making the most of the time they have left. The team has stayed busy meeting with different prospects and another player is expected to visit on Tuesday.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Falcons are one of a handful of teams set to host Virginia safety Jonas Sanker on a pre-draft visit this week. Sanker will head to Atlanta on Tuesday before visiting with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday.

The Cavaliers standout is ranked as the 115th prospect on the Pro Football Focus big board. He could be a mid-round target for the Falcons, particularly in the fourth round where they hold the 118th overall pick.

In terms of versatility, Sanker played all over the place in 2024. He lined up at strong safety (358 snaps) slightly more than at free safety (282 snaps), but also logged 139 snaps in the slot last season at Virginia.

The Falcons could use some extra depth at safety but the position is not among their biggest needs after signing Jordan Fuller in free agency. Atlanta has continued to scout both early and late-round prospects in the weeks leading up to the draft. Here’s a look at some of the team’s recent pre-draft visits.
