USC Now Pursuing No. 1 Talent From Bill Belichick's Backyard

USC Now Pursuing No. 1 Talent From Bill Belichick’s Backyard originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

USC tapped into the east coast on Father’s Day in pursuing its latest high-profile recruit. This time from the backyard of Bill Belichick.

The Trojans extended a new scholarship offer toward edge rusher Rashad Streets — the top-ranked state of North Carolina prospect for the 2027 class per 247Sports. Streets took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal USC as his latest four-year university opportunity

Streets stars for Millbrook High School, located in Raleigh. That means he’s less than 40 minutes away from Belichick and North Carolina in driving distance. Now USC is making the Tar Heel State talent a priority for the ’27 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Streets exploded as a sophomore last season. He compiled an astonishing 26.5 sacks for Millbrook. The towering and quick Streets produced six straight games of tallying two to three sacks. He closed the last three games hitting a combined 9.5 sacks.

Streets also became a tackle-for-loss machine at Millbrook. He delivered three games that saw him grab four TFLs. But he produced an astonishing 6.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage against New Bern High School.

The four-star prospect has since exploded as a national recruit. He’s reeled in 27 total scholarships as a result of his stellar underclassman campaign on varsity.

There is early Big Ten competition for USC, though, in going after Streets. He took a weekend of June 7 trip to Lincoln to check out the University of Nebraska. Streets became impressed by the passion of Cornhusker fans in his conversation with Brian Christopherson of 247Sports

Streets is the nation’s No. 8 ranked edge rusher for the ’27 class. Belichick and UNC did offer early, which came during a March 4 spring practice visit. He’s also landed Southeastern Conference offers from Florida, Arkansas, Auburn and Kentucky. USC, however, becomes his first offer from California.
