Urban Meyer Gives Unfiltered Opinion on Joey Bosa as His Ohio State Highlights Resurface

Urban Meyer Gives Unfiltered Opinion on Joey Bosa as His Ohio State Highlights Resurface originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Throughout his seven years with the Ohio State Buckeyes, former head coach Urban Meyer proved to be amazing at what he did, compiling an 83-9 record while winning three Big Ten championships.

During that time, he also had the pleasure of coaching several outstanding athletes, including defensive end Joey Bosa, who spent his entire collegiate career with the Buckeyes from 2013 to 2015.

Recently, an X post of Bosa’s highlights with Ohio State started drawing some attention and even from Meyer himself, who reposted the video with the caption “On of the best to ever do it at OSU!”

Meyer certainly has a point, too, because in these three seasons, Bosa earned All-America honors twice, while accumulating 148 tackles, 51 tackles for loss, 26 sacks (fourth-most in program history), one interception, six pass deflections and five forced fumbles.

He was also an anchor to their 2014 defense, which ended the year ranked 26th in points per game allowed (22) and 19th in total yards per game (342.4), which helped them win the national championship.

Of course, his amazing performance with Ohio State under Meyer is what led Bosa to be selected by the Los Angeles Chargers with the No. 3 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

His time with the Chargers has also been noteworthy. He was named to five Pro Bowls while racking up 343 tackles, 72 sacks, 87 tackles for loss, 156 quarterback hits and 199 pressures.

After nine years with them, though, Bosa has found a new home for the 2025 season, as he signed a one-year, $12.6 million contract with the Buffalo Bills.
