The Dallas Stars notched together two straight wins, and they have found themselves ahead early on in the series after a pair of overtime wins. While the Stars find themselves ahead in the series. The ways in which they have found their offense has remained at times random. One potential consistent source is the newly returned Tyler Seguin. The veteran forward is back and ready to make up for months of lost time in the playoffs.
Tyler Seguin began his season on a strong note, 21 points in 20 games. All signs pointed to the 33-yr old forward to having another sensational season. That was ultimately derailed when the forward went down with hip surgery on Dec. 5th. From that point on, it was uncertain if the 15-year veteran would return for the playoffs. Seguin defied all the odds and was able to make his return in the Stars’ regular season finale with the Nashville Predators. It didn’t take long for Seguin to get acclimated as he assisted on Mason Marchment’s opening goal. Since then, Seguin has come close, but yet to notch his first goal since returning. That would all change Wednesday night in Colorado.
The Dallas Stars went into Game Three riding high after a previous overtime win. That game seemed to turn that way with the early back and forth of physical play from both teams. The Avalanche would break through first as Valeri Nichuskin caught the Stars napping in their own zone and zipped a wrist show in the slot past Jake Oettinger. Stars Captain Jaimie Benn would answer back with a goal of his own in the third period after redirecting Thomas Harley’s shot from the point for the power play goal. The Stars and Avalanche would have to resort to more overtime play after failing to gain the edge before regulation. Tyler Seguin would break through and have his hero moment as Mason Marchment found him streaking down the wing and Seguin snapped a wrist shot past Mackenzie Blackwood to give the Stars a 2-1 series lead.

It’s evident that the Stars will need a more consistent scorer as the series progresses. That is even more crucial for Dallas as they await on the return of leading scorer Jason Robertson. Not only can Tyler Seguin score, but he possesses the necessary playoff experience to lead a team to the promise land. Seguin is no stranger to the big stage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as he was a part of the championship winning team for the Boston Bruins in 2010.
The Stars can only hope the overtime goal will propel Seguin onto a playoff hot streak that will take them past the Colorado Avalanche, and towards the Stanley Cup Final.
