Tyler Boyd says he’d ‘absolutely’ play for Steelers — could Pittsburgh bring the WR home?

The Steelers’ next wide receiver might’ve just revealed himself — as free-agent WR Tyler Boyd recently discussed the opportunity to play for Pittsburgh.

Boyd may have spent eight seasons as a Bengal, but the born-and-raised yinzer welcomed a return to Pittsburgh when asked if he’d play for the Steelers:

“Absolutely,” Boyd told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “You know, all my family is here. I’d be able to have the majority of them be able to support me.”

He added more fuel to a speculative Steelers signing, stating that his relationship with HC Mike Tomlin goes way back to his days as a Pitt Panther:

“I’m real cool with Tomlin,” Boyd said. “He’s always been a good person. We always wrapped it up. When I was at Pitt, we had a good relationship.”

Boyd signed a one-year deal with the Titans in 2024 but struggled to make an impact on his team, accumulating 390 receiving yards and zero touchdowns on just 39 receptions — a far cry from his days as a 1,000-yard receiver on the Bengals.

The Aaron Rodgers-led Steelers could really use the presence of a bona fide slot receiver — and Boyd could use the opportunity to prove he still has more left in the tank in his hometown.
