Two Commanders, including Jayden Daniels, named best on this unique list

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has had the NFL’s top-selling jersey since the start of 2025. Only three other players sold more officially licensed merchandise in all of 2024: Saquon Barkley, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts. Not only is it rare for a rookie to lead the NFL in jersey sales, but even more rare for a Washington player to top the list. Daniels put his No. 5 on the map.

CBS recently conducted an exercise, picking the best NFL player with each jersey number from 0 – 99. Daniels was named the best No. 5 in the NFL.

There are more established candidates here — Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Drake London and Jalen Ramsey among them. But let’s be honest: No. 5 belongs to Daniels as long as he’s even half as magical as he was during his unflappably dynamic debut. He’s already the face of the Commanders.

There are some excellent No. 5s here, led by Ramsey, a potential future Hall of Famer. However, none are quarterbacks. While he’s only been in the NFL one year, Daniels made his mark, leading the Commanders to their best season in 33 years and winning the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Daniels wasn’t the only Commander to make this list. Tight end Zach Ertz was named the best No. 86:

Fellow tight end Dalton Kincaid seemed like a real candidate to steal this one by catching passes from Josh Allen, but Ertz has actually been steadier, even going on 35. He’s up over 1,100 career receptions.

Ertz revived his career with the Commanders last season and was excited to continue playing another season with Daniels as his quarterback. Ertz enters his 13th NFL season with 775 career receptions.

In case you were wondering why Terry McLaurin wasn’t named the best No. 17, we have two words for you: Josh Allen.
