Tua Tagovailoa is a pretty well-known name in sports circles. Despite his injuries over the years, the Miami Dolphins quarterback routinely makes plays worthy of highlight reels. So much so that the average sports enjoyer probably has a pretty firm grasp on who he is and how to pronounce his name.
Unfortunately, U.S. President Donald Trump fumbled Tagovailoa’s name in a pretty brutal way when speaking to the press on Thursday. During a meeting with a handful of professional athletes — including Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker and golfer Bryson DeChambeau — Trump spoke to the press about the reinstatement of the Presidential Fitness Test.
While talking about the professional athlete council that likely helped with the endeavor, Trump mentioned Tagovailoa but completely butchered his name.

That is quite the fumble. Even worse is that Trump and Tagovailoa have been linked together in the past. Tagovailoa was pictured in Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump’s Instagram posts in March and Tagovailoa’s wife has shown support for the U.S. President on social media over the last year.
