Travis Hunter tops Madden NFL 26 rookie ratings originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter continues to make history. EA Sports officially announced that he will enter Madden NFL 26 as the highest-rated rookie with an 84 overall rating, which matches Andrew Luck’s debut in Madden NFL 13 and trailing only Reggie Bush’s legendary 87 rating in rookie history.
As a generational two-way talent, Hunter’s standout rating reflects his versatility and dominance on both sides of the ball. After winning the 2024 Heisman Trophy at Colorado and being selected second overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Hunter now leads a strong class of rookies in the popular football video game. His initial rating includes outstanding stats, including 99 Stamina, 96 Jumping, and 95 Agility. These complement his high-level attributes in defense, receiving, and ball carrier skills.
EA Sports is fully embracing Hunter’s dual-threat nature. For the first time, users will be able to use Hunter in both offensive and defensive formations without the usual depth chart restrictions. His Receiving rating is already in the 80s across the board and makes him a legitimate option on offense, while his cornerback attributes ensure lockdown potential.

Hunter’s rating puts him ahead of notable rookies like Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty (83 OVR) and Giants defensive end Abdul Carter (81 OVR). The first overall pick, Cam Ward of the Tennessee Titans, was rated a modest 72 overall ranking.
Meanwhile, Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders enters the game with a 67 overall, highlighted by superior durability but slightly lower quickness and arm strength compared to Ward. Even though the two QB were separated by 143 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Hunter is clearly the star of Madden NFL 26’s rookie class. In training camp, he has continued to split time between wide receiver and cornerback, practicing one position per day to stay sharp on both ends. His Heisman-winning season, included over 1,200 receiving yards, 16 total touchdowns, and four interceptions.
