Top performers: Another walk-off win keeps Pinckney unbeaten in SEC White baseball

For the second straight game, Pinckney had a walk-off victory over Tecumseh in extra innings to stay unbeaten in the SEC White baseball race.

It was Logan Tuttle’s turn to be the hero Wednesday, as his bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Pinckney a 2-1 victory over Tecumseh in the completion of a game that was called by darkness after five innings Monday.

The Pirates completed the three-game sweep of the Indians with a 10-0 five-inning victory in the regularly scheduled game.

On Monday, Owen Zylka’s grand slam in the bottom of the eighth gave Pinckney an 11-7 victory.

Tuttle took over on the mound Wednesday after Jax Raymond went five innings Monday, throwing three innings of no-hit shutout relief.

No dramatics would be needed in the final game of the series, with Pinckney putting up three three-run innings to improve to 11-2 overall and 6-0 in the SEC White.

Landen Bauer got the shutout, allowing only two hits in five innings. Raymond and Nolan Carruthers each drove in five runs.

Northville 10, Hartland 2

Northville handed Hartland its first loss in eight KLAA West games, holding the Eagles to five hits. Dylan Crowe and Caden See had two this each for Hartland (10-5 overall).

Salem 10, Howell 4

Duncan Gray was 3-for-4 and JT Thomas drove in two runs for Howell (10-4-1).

Novi 7, Brighton 1

Freddie Londo’s lead-off triple in the sixth inning was Brighton’s only hit.

Softball

Northville 9, Hartland 3

Northville 6, Hartland 1

Emme Kottong and Sadie Malik homered in the first game for Hartland (4-3-1).

Salem 6, Howell 1

Salem 3, Howell 0

Howell had only five hits in the doubleheader, two by freshman Caitlin Watripont in the second game. Salem’s Shannon McAuliffe struck out 14 batters while pitching a two-hitter in the opener.

Brighton 12, Novi 1

Brighton 7, Novi 1

Eryn McClendon struck out six batters in the first game and eight in the second, allowing five hits in six innings in each contest. She drove in two runs in the opener, while freshman Kendall Peckens had two doubles.

Pinckney 8, Ann Arbor Pioneer 5

Mackenzie Burns was 4-for-4 and drove in five runs for Pinckney. Addison Wroblewski was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three runs, Morgan Kubat had two RBIs and Jade Chelenyak pitched 3⅓ innings of no-hit shutout relief with five strikeouts.

Boys lacrosse

Brighton 15, Howell 4

Zach Watkins had three goals and one assist for Brighton (7-2), which got a strong goaltending performance from Cass Whitaker. Cody Baker had two goals and one assist for Howell.

Golf

Brighton 142, Novi 146, Salem 159

Jack Peterson and Grady Bissett shot 35s to tie for second and Jacob Daavettila and Jackson Frelich shot 36s to tie for fourth to lead Brighton. Novi’s Colin Riehl shot 2-under-par 32 on the Links of Novi’s south nine.
