Titans' DT Jeffery Simmons is the Vikings' Achilles heel

Tennessee Titans defensive end Jeffery Simmons is a force to be reckoned with. Drafted by the Titans in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft, the Titans have ensured Simmons remains on the roster at every turn. At 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, Simmons moves his giant body with an agility men half his size don’t have.

In 2024, Simmons was at the top of the defensive production in Tennessee. He was second in tackles, third in sacks, third in tackles for a loss, and led in forced fumbles and fumble recoveries. And he’s consistently in these positions every year.

One team Simmons excels against the most is the Minnesota Vikings, which is why PFF named Simmons the Vikings’ Achilles heel.

Minnesota Vikings: DI Jeffery SimmonsSomething about facing the Minnesota Vikings brings out the best in Tennessee’s Jeffery Simmons. He has played against them only twice, but he recorded the two highest single-game PFF pass-rush grades of his career in those outings: 92.6 in Week 11 of 2024 and 92.3 in Week 3 of 2020.

In those matchups, Simmons generated 14 pressures and a 22% pass-rush win rate. The Vikings are surely glad they won’t face him and the Titans in 2025.

Simmons has the Vikings under his thumb, and it’s a certainty that they don’t want to see him opposite them on the field any time soon.

Two other teams brought out solid play in Simmons in 2024: The Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars. Simmons posted PFF grades of 80.7 against both teams in 2024. The Titans won’t face the Bengals in 2025, but the Jags are a different story and will need to prepare for Simmons twice a year, every year, for the foreseeable future.
