The South African became the youngest winner in Korn Ferry Tour history when he won the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic in early 2024 at 19 years, 4 months and 11 days.
Youngest winners on PGA Tour
The PGA Tour’s official media guide lists five teenagers who won events, but four of them came in tournaments played decades ago:
- Charles Kocsis, 1931 Michigan Open: 18 years, 6 months, 9 days
- Harry Cooper, 1923 Galveston Open Championship: 19 years, 4 days
- Ralph Guldahl, 1931 Santa Monica Open: 19 years, 2 months, 3 days
- John McDermott, 1911 U.S. Open: 19 years, 10 months, 14 days
Youngest winners on PGA Tour since 1983
Since 1983, there has been just one teen to win on the PGA Tour. There have been six golfers who won nine tournaments as 20-year-olds. Tiger Woods won twice in his 20s as did Tom Kim and Nick Dunlap. Dunlap is one of two amateurs to win a PGA Tour event.

- Tiger Woods, 1996 Shriners Children’s Open: 20 years, 9 months, 6 days
- Tiger Woods, 1996 Walt Disney World/Oldsmobile Classic: 20 years, 9 months, 20 days
Potgieter, 20 years, 9 months, 16 days on Sunday of the final round of the 2025 Rocket Classic, would become the seventh different golfer to win before being of legal age to sip the celebratory champagne.
