Texas Trending for Several More Five-Star Recruits in 2026 Class originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Texas Longhorns made a splash on the recruiting trail last weekend.
The Longhorns hosted a few big recruiting weekends throughout the month of June and the early returns from the visits were overwhelmingly positive. Steve Sarkisian’s staff earned the commitments of four-star defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland and five-star edge Richard Wesley last weekend and more could be on the way.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Texas is trending the right direction for several blue-chip recruits in the 2026 class. Five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo and four-star interior offensive lineman John Turntine are both expected to land in Austin. Turntine is the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the country per On3’s industry ranking.
Texas is also emerging as the favorite for a few top defensive recruits. Wiltfong lists four-star edge Trenton Henderson, four-star defensive lineman Kendall Guervil, four-star edge Jamarion Carlton and four-star linebacker Kosi Okpala as players that the Longhorns appear to be in good standing with.
One of Texas’ priority targets, five-star linebacker/edge Xavier Griffin, appears to be leaning toward Alabama but Sarkisian’s staff is pushing hard to land the Georgia native ahead of his June 29 commitment date.
The Longhorns currently have the No. 10 overall class for the 2026 cycle. If Texas can land a few more five-star players, its possible Sarkisian could bring in back-to-back No. 1 classes.
