Tennessee received a rugby commitment from a Texas Tech transfer. Andrew Ozwaldo Greene, a scrum half, will play for the Vols after beginning his collegiate career with the Red Raiders. He played high school rugby in Apex, North Carolina.
“Andrew Ozwaldo Greene brings his grit and game from Texas Tech to the Vols,” Tennessee announced. “The 5-foot-7, 180-pound scrum half out of Apex, North Carolina is officially committed. Let’s work!”
The Vols will kick off their 2025 rugby season Aug. 30 with two matches at Tennessee Rugby Park. Tennessee will face Kentucky reserves at 11:30 a.m. EDT and Queens University for a 3 p.m. EDT kick off.
Tennessee will also host Ohio State, Georgia and South Carolina, while playing at Appalachian State, Clemson and Alabama during the 2025 regular season.
The Vols will have an Orange and White scrimmage on Aug. 22 ahead of their first match to kick off the 2025 campaign.
Tennessee won a 2021 national championship under head coach Marty Bradley. Since 2022, he has served as the Vols’ director of rugby with Scott Tungay as head coach.
