Big 12 media days are upon us, and on Tuesday, Texas Tech Head Coach Joey McGuire called for LSU and Texas Tech to play a home-and-home series in the near future.

We know LSU is no stranger to big opening week games, just look at the past four seasons. They’ve played Florida State twice, USC once and now Clemson this year, and none of those games have been played in Tiger Stadium.

“I saw Brian Kelly say he’d love to play a Big 10 team. Hey, I would love to play LSU, home and home series,” McGuire said on Tuesday.

A home-and-home series between LSU and Texas Tech would draw a lot of eyes. The Tigers are one of, if not the biggest brand in college football right now and Texas Tech is very much on the come up with their nearly unlimited NIL budget.

Over the past few weeks, Texas Tech has dominated the recruiting scene. They’ve added five-star offensive lineman Felix Ojo, four-star running back Ace Rowden and four-star safety Donovan Webb. Ojo signed a filly guaranteed three-year, 5.1-million dollar revenue sharing deal with the Red Raiders, showing off the Red Raider’s large NIL budget.

Brian Kelly has mentioned wanting to play Big 10 teams during the regular season, but a team like Texas Tech, who’s in the Big 12, could still catch his eye. I know there are a lot of fans out there who want to see LSU schedule cupcake games week one because of their poor record in openers lately, but if Kelly wants to keep playing big out of conference opponents, Texas Tech could make a good suitor.
