Texas Longhorns Send Offer to Highly Touted Prospect With Cowboys Bloodline

The Texas Longhorns and head coach Steve Sarkisian were able to make a run all the way to the Cotton Bowl last season. They were among the four best teams in college football.

After putting together a season that ended with a 13-3 record and a 7-1 record in SEC play, the sky is the limit for Texas entering the 2025 campaign.

Sarkisian has done an excellent job of building the Longhorns back into a national championship contender. Since taking over the job back in 2021, he has compiled a 38-17 record. He has rebuilt the culture at Texas and has been recruiting at a very high level, both out of high school and in the transfer portal.

This week, Sarkisian made another major offer. He extend an offer to four-star 2027 linebacker Cooper Witten, who happens to be the son of Dallas Cowboys legend and tight endJason Witten.

Witten announced the offer from the Longhorns on his X account.

“Blessed and grateful to receive an offer from the University of Texas,” he wrote.

According to 247 Sports, Witten is ranked as the No. 1 linebacker in the 2027 class. He is also ranked No. 25 in the nation and No. 4 in the state of Texas.

Plenty of other high-profile programs have also shown interest in Witten. Among the interested teams are the Oklahoma Sooners, TCU Horned Frogs, SMU Mustangs, Baylor Bears, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Texas will have a lot of work to do to convince Witten to commit. Sarkisian has proven himself to be among the nation’s elite recruiting coaches and landing Witten would be another big addition in a long line of success stories for him.
