Tank Davis in Legal Trouble Again – Arrest Details, Charges & Fight Future originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
In combat sports, aggression is often glorified as a characteristic of success. Beneath the spectacle, however, lies a troubling pattern of abusive behaviors outside the ring or cage. In some alarming cases, these behaviors can spill over into domestic violence, emotional abuse, and criminal conduct.
Undefeated WBA lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis was arrested on July 11 in Miami Beach, Florida, on a domestic violence charge stemming from a June 15 altercation with his ex-girlfriend. The 30-year-old boxer was taken into custody by Miami Beach police before being transferred to Doral PD.
According to police reports, the alleged assault occurred on Father’s Day when Davis arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s Doral home to pick up their two children. According to police reports, a verbal argument escalated into physical violence, with Davis allegedly striking the victim in the back of the head and slapping her face, causing a cut to her lip.
The victim texted her mother for help, who later witnessed her daughter crying and recorded part of the altercation, including Davis throwing a small box at the woman.
Davis’ mugshot, which can be found on the Miami-Dade County corrections and rehabilitation website, was shared online:

This arrest marks the latest in a string of legal troubles for Davis.
In 2020, he was charged with domestic battery after a viral video showed him grabbing the mother of his child by the neck at a basketball game.
Davis also served 90 days under house arrest for a 2020 Baltimore hit-and-run that injured four people, including a pregnant woman.
Another domestic violence case in 2022 was dropped when the accuser retracted her accusation.
His repeated run-ins with the law have raised questions about his discipline and behavior outside the ring, despite a near flawless record inside it.
Davis’ arrest also jeopardizes his planned August 16 rematch with Lamont Roach Jr. following their controversial draw back in March. Promoters had yet to finalize the bout, but this recent incident could delay or even cancel it entirely.
