Suns Named Among Favorites to Reunite With Veteran Guard in Free Agency originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Phoenix Suns entered the offseason expected to make major changes to their roster and that is exactly what they have done thus far.
To begin their offseason, the Suns sent Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the draft rights to Khaman Maluach and five second-round picks.
They then acquired Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets on draft night before selecting Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.
With these moves, it is clear that the Suns are trying to remain competitive by retooling their roster around Devin Booker and more moves are expected to happen with Bradley Beal, Royce O’Neal and Grayson Allen all being in recent rumors.
While the Suns have made improvement to multiple positions, especially their frontcourt, they still lack a true point guard, which has been a problem for them for multiple seasons.
Due to this, Phoenix has emerged as a favorite to reunite with one of their former players in free agency this summer.
According to Bovada, the Suns have the second-best odds (+260) of signing Chris Paul in free agency.

The Los Angeles Clippers are the favorite (+185) to land him while the Milwaukee Bucks (+375) and Los Angeles Lakers (+375) were also named.
For Paul, it has been reported that he wants to be closer to his family in Los Angeles next season and if both the Lakers and Clippers pass on him, Phoenix may be the closest he could get.
Of course, Paul played three seasons for the Suns from 2020 to 2023 and helped lead them to an NBA Finals berth in 2021 when they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Though Paul is no longer the all-star point guard he once was, he proved last season with the San Antonio Spurs that he can still be a starter in the NBA and he would be a great addition to the Suns’ roster due to his veteran leadership.
