Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler injury update: Warriors stars look optimistic for play-in game

The Golden State Warriors suffered a crushing loss to the Los Angeles Clippersin the last game of the NBA’s awesome 2025 regular season.

It was particularly devastating not only because Draymond Green foul-baited on a late open layup that likely would’ve extended the game but also because the defeat sent the Warriors to the league’s play-in tournament. The Warriors must now still earn their place in the 2025 playoffs before they even think about starting any sort of playoff run later this month.

Naturally, all eyes are on Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler — the Warriors’ two most important players — as both stars are seemingly nursing injuries at the worst possible time. Fortunately, both appear to be mostly OK and ready to battle with the Memphis Grizzlies for the Western Conference No. 7 seed on Tuesday night.

Monday’s pregame Warriors injury report listed Curry as available with a sprained right thumb. Curry is not 100 percent to play, but it does look likely. Meanwhile, Butler wasn’t even listed on the report after taking a Kawhi Leonard knee to the thigh that later had the Warriors star forward scarily limping at the end of Golden State’s loss to the Clippers.

Needless to say, the Warriors can’t afford these kinds of scares with Curry and Butler this postseason. So, they certainly dodged a bullet here.
