With the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed former South Alabama tight end DJ Thomas-Jones as an undrafted free agent.
Thomas-Jones began his collegiate career at Ole Miss before transferring to the University of South Alabama in 2022, where he finished with 74 receptions for 659 yards and 12 touchdowns across his collegiate career — highlighted by five receiving touchdowns in 2023.
He joins a tight end room that already features Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington, providing Pittsburgh with another developmental body and potential depth option heading into training camp.
While Thomas-Jones was not among the Steelers’ official draft selections, his addition helps complete Pittsburgh’s 2025 rookie class — a class that contains Oregon DT Derrick Harmon, Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson, Ohio State EDGE Jack Sawyer, Iowa DT Yahya Black, Ohio State QB Will Howard, Washington LB Carson Bruener, and Central Michigan CB Donte Kent.
Stay tuned for full grades of the Steelers’ complete 2025 draft class and news on additional undrafted free agent signings.
