The Steelers completely retooled both sides of the football this offseason, but one member of the legendary Rooney family isn’t a fan of the most recent trades — specifically Jalen Ramsey and DK Metcalf.
Patrick Rooney Jr., grandson of Steelers president Art Rooney II, made a guest appearance on Wednesday’s Palm Beach Kennel Club Picks podcast. While sharing his thoughts on the recent Steelers-Dolphins blockbuster trade, Pat criticized several of the Steelers’ newest additions — referring to them as “headcases”:
“Ramsey is kind of a headcase,” Pat Rooney said. “And this team is not generally conducive to being able to deal with headcases. AKA, George Pickens, who we just had to get rid of. And you bring in DK Metcalf, who’s a little bit like George Pickens — in terms of being a headcase. And now you got another one in there.”
A Dolphins writer recently took aim at Ramsey over his on- and off-the-field antics in Miami, while Metcalf — whom the Steelers traded for last March — has previously drawn criticism for his physical altercations with opposing defensive backs during games.
If Ramsey and Metcalf can tune out the noise, they could potentially play massive roles in the 2025 season — helping the Pittsburgh Steelers re-align their postseason aspirations — and maybe even bring a seventh Lombardi home to the Steel City.
