Steelers-Packers trade pitch sends $4 million WR with 15 TDs as 'dream' opposite of DK Metcalf

The Packers are in a great position with their wide receiver room. While they are currently managing well despite Christian Watson’s injury, once he returns healthy, the team will have some tough decisions to make about who to move on from. With rookie Matthew Golden improving every day, it’s unclear who that might be. Romeo Doubs is impressed with what he’s seen from Golden so far.

“Oh, man. Kid’s a stud,” Doubs said. “Doesn’t say much, but he just comes in and works. He’s been real consistent in that area…kid is playing fast right now, so I’m excited to see it.”

However, Doubs’s praise might come back to haunt him, as Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer has revealed that a veteran receiver could be traded if Golden continues to develop successfully.

“The Packers picked the fastest receiver in the draft, Matthew Golden, and early returns from Green Bay say the rookie’s overall athleticism has already shown up,” Breer wrote. “It’ll be interesting to see whether a veteran receiver shakes free in a trade based on Golden’s development.”

In a trade proposal by FanSided’s Cody Williams, Romeo Doubs is sent to the Steelers to play one final season with Aaron Rodgers.

“The wheeling-and-dealing Steelers are the most obvious option for a Doubs trade. With the arrival of Aaron Rodgers, Omar Khan’s actions have indicated that the franchise is all-in on trying to make a Super Bowl run this season. To do that, though, I’d still argue that they can’t go into the year with Calvin Austin III as their second receiving option. Doubs would be a dream opposite DK Metcalf and, if Pittsburgh is willing to part with more draft capital, he seems attainable,” Williams wrote.

DK Metcalf is a new target for Rodgers, and they have been working on building chemistry. However, Doubs is a familiar receiver for Rodgers, which could pay major dividends. This deal would certainly make Rodgers happy as he looks to finish his career on a high note this season.
