Steelers Linebacker Patrick Queen 'Upset' At Play Last Season

Steelers Linebacker Patrick Queen ‘Upset’ At Play Last Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

After being selected with the 28th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and spending four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, linebacker Patrick Queen signed a three-year, $41 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Queen tallied 454 total tackles with the Ravens, including 297 solo and 37 for a loss, and added 13.5 sacks and four interceptions.

In moving to Pittsburgh, Queen was supposed to be a key part of the defense on all three downs. Despite making the Pro Bowl last season, Queen was unhappy with his overall performance.

“For me, personally, I think I could have expectations and surpass them, and I’d still be upset that I didn’t do more,” Queen said, via Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I’m always going to be searching and looking for more that I can do, trying to be the best player I can be for my team and for myself. I didn’t do that last year. That’s what really aggravated me this whole offseason.”

Queen’s numbers in Pittsburgh last season were impressive enough.

The former LSU defender registered 129 total tackles with 65 solo and six for loss, five QB hits, two forced fumbles and one sack.

No one is worried about Queen’s performance last season, except maybe Queen himself.

The Steelers brought him in to be a run-stopper and that’s exactly what he was. The ex-Tiger could use his disappointment in himself as motivation for next season, as he could mark his third straight Pro Bowl appearance, and second with the Steelers.
