Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that Standard Liege defender Lucas Noubi is set to leave Belgium for Spain. Noubi will swap Standard Liege for La Liga 2 side Deportivo La Coruña for the 2025/2026 campaign. Noubi had been linked with a move away for some time and, given the Belgian sides financial situation, it is not surprising that he departs this summer. Unfortunately for Standard, he will do so without bringing any money into the club.

Injury’s meant that Noubi was a bit part player for Standard during the 2024/2025 Pro League season. Despite a solid campaign during the prior season he played just two games for the senior side under Ivan Leko and 15 for the sides second team SL16. The Belgian youth international had been part of the Standard set up since joinng frmo Mouscron in 2015. With his contract up this summer he now gets a chance to experience a new style of football in Spain with Deportivo.

Last season Deportivo finished 15th in the Spanish second tier, eight points above the relegation zone. The side only returned from the third tier of Spanish football after gaining promotion during the 2023/2024 campaign.
