Former Southeast Polk football star Kadyn Proctor is earning high praise for his physical abilities ahead of his junior season at Alabama.
The offensive tackle was ranked No. 2 on Bruce Feldman’s annual “Freaks List,” which was published by The Athletic on Aug. 4. The Freaks List is an attempt to rank “the strongest, fastest and most physical players in college football,” according to the site. It’s an offering Feldman has produced each preseason since 2005.
Here’s what Feldman wrote about Proctor:
“The biggest, by far, of Alabama’s three O-line Freaks, the 6-7, 366-pound Proctor’s body has 274 pounds of lean muscle mass with 26 percent body fat. His strength numbers are awesome. This summer, he squatted 815 pounds, benched 535 and power cleaned 405.
“Honestly, I was even more blown away when I found out he vertical jumped 32 inches and broad jumped 9-3. He’s 366 pounds! That 32-inch vertical is as much or more than five of the wideouts who were at this year’s combine. It’s the same as Colorado’s LaJohntay Wester, and he weighed 203 pounds less.”
Ohio State wideout Jeremiah Smith took the top spot on the list.
Proctor was a five-star recruit and the top prospect in the state of Iowa’s 2023 class and helped lead the Rams to two state championships. He originally committed to Iowa football before flipping to the Crimson Tide and coach Nick Saban. Following Saban’s retirement, he briefly transferred to the Hawkeyes before ultimately returning to Alabama for his sophomore season.
