With the NBA draft right around the corner, now is the time to look at some past drafts and see what the Philadelphia 76ers have done in their history. The Sixers have selected some big-time players in the past who have become an important part of the fabric of the franchise’s history.
This edition focuses on 2015 as the Sixers made an important addition after the fact. A scrappy guard by the name of TJ McConnell went undrafted and was looking for his first opportunity in the league. The Sixers signed the guard to a multi-year deal and he immediately made an impact.
While the Sixers didn’t have much success in 2015-16, McConnell averaged 6.1 points and 4.5 assists and began helping the Sixers turn things around. He endeared himself to Philadelphia with his work ethic and hard-nosed play on a nightly basis.
Overall, McConnell spent four seasons in Philadelphia before leaving in free agency in 2019 to sign with the Indiana Pacers. He has been with Indiana ever since and is now in the finals looking to help the franchise win its first NBA title.
