Sheffield United have signed Millwall defender Japhet Tanganga for “a significant undisclosed fee”.
The Championship’s bottom club, who on Wednesday added striker Danny Ings to their squad, have landed the former England youth international on a three-year contract.
Tanganga came through the youth ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and made 50 appearances for the Premier League club before loan spells at FC Augsburg and Millwall.
After joining the Lions on a permanent basis last summer, he was named the club’s player of the year for 2024-25 and is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the Championship.
Reports suggested four Premier League clubs were interested in the 26-year-old.
Tanganga told the club website: “After leaving [Spurs] it was important that I went somewhere where I had that platform to play week in, week out.
“Millwall gave me that, and that’s all I wanted to do. I just want to continue that up here now at Sheffield United.”
