Shaquill Griffin released by Seahawks

The reunion between the Seattle Seahawks and their former Pro Bowl corner, Shaquill Griffin, has been cut short. On Wednesday afternoon, it was reported by ESPN’s Brady Henderson that Griffin will be released by the Seahawks. There is a hope the team will be able to sign him back to the practice squad.

Griffin was released in order to make room for former Rams defensive back Derion Kendrick, whom the Seahawks managed to successfully claim on waivers.

During the 2025 preseason, Griffin played in the Week 2 and 3 games against the Chiefs and Packers, respectively. He allowed one catch on two targets, which unfortunately was a touchdown surrendered to Green Bay’s Romeo Doubs in the 20-7 loss. Griffin recorded two total tackles this preseason.

The likelihood of Griffin remaining in Seattle on the practice squad feels solid. He is a veteran who has bounced around the league for a few years now and might be content sticking around the team that drafted him at this point in his career, even if it is in this capacity. His experience would make him a natural option to elevate to the active 53-man roster should there be an injury at the cornerback position.
