Shai Gilgoeus-Alexander’s Quote Goes Viral After Thunder-Grizzlies

The Oklahoma City Thunder looked like they were in trouble for the first time in the series against the Memphis Grizzlies. Game 3 was not going their way, until it was.

The Thunder rallied from a 29-point deficit to win a competitive 114-108 ball game on Thursday night to take a commanding 3-0 series lead against the Grizzlies.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played a big part in that comeback. The MVP candidate notched 31 points and 8 assists in the game that ultimately swung back around for the Thunder. The superstar point guard had the sound bite of the night too.

Gilgeous-Alexander goes viral with postgame comments

When you’re a member of a team as great as the Thunder, it’s easy to have confidence. Gilgeous-Alexander is always oozing of that on and off the court.

“We just knew the only way we were going to give ourselves a chance was sticking together, getting stops, playing fast, and just like plugging away at it, possession by possession,” the scoring champ told the media

“We know how they built a 29 point lead in a half,” Gilgeous-Alexander continued. “So we knew like all we had to do was build our own 29 point lead, you know what I mean?”

The particular choice of words that caught everyone’s ear was the following statement.

“If they could build it, we can erase it,” the Thunder point guard said with certainty.

Gilgeous-Alexander continued: “That’s how we see it, and that’s what we did. … You can’t pout, you can’t get caught in your feelings because then it just gets bigger and bigger, and you don’t have to give yourself a chance. That’s all we were focused on.”
