The Georgia football program has endured a difficult weekend, with one commit being arrested on a charge of domestic battery and a big piece of their offense getting arrested on Sunday.

Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald reported on Sunday that offensive lineman Jahzare Jackson was charged with possession and use of drug-related objects, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, and holding a wireless device with any part of his body while driving. The charges are misdemeanors.

“According to an arrest warrant, Jackson was arrested at 9:31 p.m. at West Broad Street/Hawthorne Ave. in Athens. He was holding a cell phone while driving a 2017 Tesla,” Weiszer reported. “Jackson possessed or had under his control a marijuana grinder, according to an affidavit for his arrest with the Magistrate Court of Athens-Clarke County.”

Jackson’s arrest came just a day after JUCO commit Seven Cloud was formally charged with domestic battery related to an incident from April. Reporter Thomas Goldkamp of On3 noted that Cloud has been in trouble with the law before.

“This is not the first incident where the police have been involved with Cloud and his significant other,” Goldkamp reported. “On March 27, Cloud was charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly destroying her cell phone. That is also classified as a misdemeanor and both charges came from the BCC Department of Public Safety.”

The Bulldogs have seen other players get in legal trouble in recent months. In March, wide receiver Nitro Tuggle and offensive lineman Marques Easley were charged with traffic-related infractions and suspended.
