Seahawks sign Ole Miss pass rusher Jared Ivey as undrafted free agent

The 2025 NFL draft is officially in the books. The Seattle Seahawks selected 11 players from the draft, but they are still not done adding to this roster. Now comes signing undrafted free agents. A notable one the Seahawks are bringing in is Ole Miss pass rush specialist Jared Ivey, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Seattle has a clear desire to transform their defensive line into one of the best in the league. Adding a kid with All-SEC honors could help do just that.

For the last three seasons at Ole Miss, Jared Ivey had been steadily improving as a terror to SEC offensive lines. In each of his three campaigns, he increased his sack total from 3.5, to 5.5 and finally to 7 in his last year. He’s also incredibly durable, playing in 38 games during that span of time.

In addition to the 7 sacks he logged in his last year as a Rebel, Ivey recorded 42 total tackles – 11 of which were for a loss – defended three passes, forced two fumbles and even recovered one of them.

Here is what Ivey’s official NFL draft profile has to say about him:

Despite consecutive seasons of production in opponents’ backfields, Ivey’s strengths and weaknesses converge for a feast-or-famine playing style. His rush is segmented and leggy with average short-area closing burst for an edge rusher. He lacks anchor and contact balance to command the point. On the other hand, Ivey is surprisingly slippery, using his stride, length and upper-body swivel to shapeshift and circumvent blocks. He needs to play with a little more edge but has enough disruption potential to become a rotational 4-3 defensive end with sub-rush potential inside.

The Seahawks might have gotten incredible value with Ivey as well. His draft profile had him listed as a potential 5th round pick. Instead he slipped past all 32 teams in the draft, and has ended up in the Pacific Northwest.
