Scottie Scheffler is the man of the hour in golf. After his impressive feat at The Open Championship, the comparisons to Tiger Woods are increasing among fans. Though Woods is in a league of his own, Scheffler clearly shows an ability to join the all-time greats of the game.

Having won his fourth major, the World No. 1 will next tee off at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. He’s taking a few weeks off before getting back on a hot streak. While he rests, interesting news emerged on Thursday.

Scheffler will also compete in the Procore Championship, scheduled for Sept. 11–14, ahead of the Ryder Cup. Xander Schauffele has likewise voiced strong interest in playing.

This event will serve as a warm‑up to keep the U.S. team’s stars sharp during the monthlong break between the Tour Championship and the Ryder Cup.

“I know I’ll be there,” Scottie Scheffler said, per Augusta Press.

Doug Ferguson writes, “That was a big concern at the last Ryder Cup, held outside Rome in 2023. The PGA Tour season that year ended Aug. 27 with the Tour Championship at East Lake, and the majority of the team had a full month away from tournament golf before going to Marco Simone for the start of the Ryder Cup on Sept. 29.”

The critical challenge will be to accommodate Bryson DeChambeau. As a LIV golfer, he’s banned from PGA Tour events.

“Bryson is going to be a very important piece to us winning the Ryder Cup,” Bradley said in a text message to SI. “He brings so much. He brings energy, passion but most importantly, he’s one of the best players on the planet.”
