Sam LaPorta cracks the NFL Top 100 players of 2025

The NFL is rolling out its annual Top 100 players ahead of the coming 2025 season. It didn’t take long for a Detroit Lions to make an appearance on the list.

Lions tight end Sam LaPorta is the first Detroit player to crack the NFL Top 100. LaPorta was part of the first grouping of names revealed, which is occurring on X (formerly Twitter) this year. LaPorta checks in at No. 94.

That’s an impressive view of LaPorta, who did not have as statistically of an impressive season in 2024 as he did in his outstanding rookie campaign in 2023. Still, 60 receptions for 726 yards and 7 TDs is a great year, and LaPorta’s growth as a blocker and route runner showed improvement.

LaPorta is the first Lions player on the list, but he won’t be the last. It’s going to be interesting to see where the likes of Kerby Joseph, Aidan Hutchinson, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell and others (Gibbs? Goff?) come out in the rankings.
